Soon I will be sending the final copy of “Prestidigitations” to the ISU Saxophone Ensemble. They will be premiering it at the conference of the North American Saxophone Alliance at Texas Tech University during the weekend of March 10-13! “Prestidigitation” is another word for sleight of hand - and this piece takes its inspiration from the illusion and spectacle of magicians’ performances. It is based on a simple pattern of notes that has been made to run on and on, and it definitly show off the ensemble’s technical and rhythmic skill. This has been an exciting piece to write, and I can’t wait to hear the students work their magic on it!
